Personal protective equipment.
Conformity assessment of personal protective equipment (hereinafter referred to as "PPE") is based on the fulfilment of the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council ("Regulation (EU) 2016/425") on personal protective equipment and repealing Council Directive 89/686/EEC.
Regulation (EU) 2016/425 replaces the previous Council Directive 89/686/EEC.
Act No. 90/2016 Coll., as amended, has been adapted to Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Unlike the previous Directive (89/686/EEC), the new Regulation is aligned with the principles of the new legislative framework (NLF), requirements concerning economic operators, notified bodies, conformity assessment procedures, etc. have been specified. There are no significant changes to the basic requirements. The PPE categories are now defined by risk type, no longer by PPE type. There have been some changes to these categories. The technical requirements for PPE, referred to as "Essential Health and Safety Requirements", are listed in Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
