With regard to the exclusion of rope towed equipment where users or drifters move on water (water ski lifts) from the draft Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on cableways, the Office for Technical Standardization, Metrology and State Testing publishes the output of the task of the Standardization Plan-Testing Development Programme "Establishment of a framework of requirements for the assessment of the technical and operational safety of water ski lifts, taking into account the specific risks of these installations".

The task was assigned with the aim of ensuring a consistent approach by authorised persons. However, the task in question shows that authorised persons cannot carry out conformity assessment in this case according to the legal regulations issued to implement Act No 22/1997 Coll., on technical requirements for products and on amendment and supplementation of certain acts.

The output of the task is RECOMMENDED SELECTION OF BASIC TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT OF WATER SKI LIFTS /PDF 396 kB/which can serve domestic manufacturers to properly carry out conformity assessment, but also other interested institutions, including supervisory authorities. For the future operator, additional requirements for its installation in a specific infrastructure as well as for the actual operation may be set during the authorisation procedure under the powers of the construction authorities, in accordance with the amendment to Act No 266/1994 Coll., as amended. Please note that an amendment to Act No 266/1994 Coll., as amended, is currently being prepared which puts water lifts on an equal footing with ski lifts. It will therefore be necessary, once this amendment comes into force, to secure approval from the Railway Authority for the suitability of the lifts for operation and to apply for a licence. Operators, manufacturers and other interested parties are referred to the website of the Railway Authority: https://www.ducr.cz/images/drurad/dokumenty/technici/UTZ_Metodicky_pokyn_pro_LV.pdf, where the "Methodological Instruction for Approval of Ski Lifts for Operation and Issuance of Certificates of Competence" is published.
