Prague, 26 November 2024 - The Czech Agency for Standardization awarded personalities who have contributed to the development and popularization of standardization, as well as authors of student works at the Vladimír List Award Ceremony.
On 20 November 2024, the 21st annual presentation of the Vladimír List Prize and Honorable Mentions took place at the Kaiserstein Palace in Prague. These prestigious awards have been given since 2002 and aim to highlight personalities who have made a significant contribution to the development and popularisation of technical standardisation. The awards bear the name of the founder of Czechoslovak technical standardization, Prof. Dr. Ing. Vladimír List (1877-1971), whose legacy remains an inspiration even today.
This year's laureates were awarded in several categories. Vladimír List Award was awarded to Michael Solar for a lifetime of significant and multifaceted contributions to technical standardization, particularly in the field of nanotechnology. Honorary recognition of Vladimír List three experts took home the prize: David Korpas for medical devices, Petr Kuklík for his contribution in the field of wooden structures and Martina Pavlínková for her work in the field of plastics.
In the category of the most beneficial original CSN issued in 2023/2024 - CSN & Research and Innovation Award the standard CSN 73 1901-4 was evaluated Roof design - Part 4: Vegetated roofs.
New this year was Awards for the promotion and development of standardisationwhich was awarded to Gustav Chwistek and Miroslav Miler for their long-term and significant contribution in this field.
Traditionally, attention was also paid to the students. In the competition for the best student work with a link to the technical standards of ČSN in the category dissertations the winner was Jakub Nosek with his work Semi-automatic crimping machine. Honorable mention went to Helena Havelková and Michaela Keňová. In the category bachelor theses Petr Šebelle won for his work Crack width calculation for reinforced concrete structures. Martin Lysek received an honorary mention.
The awards were presented to the laureates by Director General of the Czech Standards Agency Zdeněk Veselý a Jiří Kratochvíl, Chairman of the Office for Technical Standardization, Metrology and State Testing.
Zdeněk Veselý stressed on this occasion: "Standardisation is an essential foundation for innovation, efficiency and safety in all areas of industry and the public sector. Since its inception, the Czech Standards Agency has been constantly evolving, adapting to new challenges and expanding its reach, made possible by a capable and committed workforce. In addition to our main activity, which is the development of technical standards, we are now focusing on key areas such as the implementation of the BIM method in the Czech construction industry and the attestation of electronic filing systems."
Jiří Kratochvíl expressed his pleasure that in the Czech Republic, the Czech Standards Agency is succeeding in building a strong standardisation organisation with the participation of all stakeholders, which is suitably inspired in its functioning by similar organisations in Europe. At the same time, the Chairman of the ÚNMZ recalled the irreplaceable role of technical standards in technical education. The Office and the Agency are very progressive in this area as well.
